My playing career has shaped the way I coach. Throughout my years playing college and professional soccer, my work ethic was something coaches consistently recognized. I’ve always pushed myself beyond my limits, and that mentality has helped get me to where I am today.

9+ years of coaching experience working with goalkeepers of all ages and skill levels, including Augsburg University, other collegiate programs, MLS NEXT, and youth clubs in Madison, WI. I also played professionally with Minnesota United and MNUFC2.

As the Owner of Twin Cities Goalkeeping, I want to bring that same work ethic into every training session while helping goalkeepers develop both on and off the field.

My favorite part of coaching is teaching young goalkeepers and watching their progression from where they started to where they finish. As a goalkeeper, I’ve always loved the gloves, diving around, and making the save when it matters most.

Assistant Director of Goalkeeping: Ages: U13-U18

Toby Reinsma

I started playing goalkeeper later than most, beginning in my sophomore year of high school. Due to the lack of play and coaching at a young age, I often felt myself having to catch up as a goalkeeper. I was constantly having to learn the techniques and ways of reading the game that other keepers had known for years. All of this proved very difficult, but as I look back I am so thankful for all the hard work and commitment that goalkeeping has taught me. I believe that it is never too late to start learning and playing goalkeeper, partially because I am a product of this belief, but also because there is no time like the present. 

My coaching philosophy emphasizes coaching all of my keepers through game-like scenarios focusing on proper technique and situational dialogue. The goal in each session is to execute the next right action, while also understanding why each action is correct, and also considering possible alternatives. I believe that after each session a keeper should leave with confidence to implement what was worked on into a game. I hope to instill a belief in all of my goalkeepers that they are more than capable to perform at a high level.

Andrew Ziebarth

My coaching style is heavily influenced by the great coaches I’ve had throughout my playing career, and working with Oscar—both as a player and now as a coach—has taught me so much about the position. My main goal is to build strong goalkeeping fundamentals while keeping the game fun and engaging. At the end of the day, I believe hard work and consistency are what truly make a great goalkeeper.

Favorite Thing About Being a GK & Coach

  • As a Coach: Seeing players continuously develop and watching their confidence and skills grow over time.
  • As a Player: Nothing beats the feeling of coming up big in a 1v1 save, plus the incredible community that comes with being a goalkeeper.
